WHat to Expect on Orientation Day

We are very excited that your child will be attending New Prague High School. We look forward to meeting your student on Monday, August 28th. This will be a full-day orientation for all incoming 9th graders. As you may know, our school participates in the nationwide Link Crew Program, an organization whose sole purpose is to help freshmen feel more comfortable and help them achieve success in their first year of high school. Following is some of the information to let you know what you and your student can expect in advance of the first day of school. We are excited to welcome our NPHS 9th Grade class!

How to Prepare for 9th Grade Orientation Day

• What do 9th Grade students need to bring? Your student is encouraged NOT to bring a backpack, purses, school supplies etc. Freshmen will be assigned lockers and will have a chance to practice opening them, but that is scheduled later in the day.

• Student Schedules: Please bring a printed copy of their class schedule.

• Lunch: Lunch will be served this day. Students may also bring lunch.

• What to wear: Wear comfortable clothing. The day will be quite active.

• Chromebooks: Chromebooks will be distributed on Tuesday, August 29th. Please bring the following three (3) items to exchange for your new device...

  1. 1. Your current school-issued Chromebook

     2. Protective case

     3. Charging cord

• Cell Phones: Cell phone use during planned activities is prohibited. While there will be designated breaks that a phone could be used. If possible, please come without a cell phone for this one day. It helps ensure that all students are present and engaged with one another.

• Attendance: Attendance will be taken as this is the first student contact day.

• Bussing: Busses will run on their regular pick-up and drop-off schedule. Shuttle busses will leave from behind NPHS at 2:37 PM. Shuttle busses transport students daily to the Middle School where students then ride their designated Route Bus home.
