An international peer-reviewed journal on the anthropology of salt
Vall Salina e-Journal is an open-access scientific journal devoted to the interdisciplinary study of salt in past and present societies. The journal publishes high-quality research on the cultural, social, economic, environmental, and technological dimensions of salt production, distribution, and use, bringing together perspectives from archaeology, anthropology, history, geography, and related disciplines.
An IREC publication
Each issue is structured around a thematic monographic section, complemented by original research articles and a section dedicated to news and current developments in the field of salt anthropology.
While maintaining a strong international outlook, the journal also promotes research on salt landscapes such as Cardona, understood within a broader global and comparative framework.
Vall Salina e-Journal is published by the IREC (Institut de Recerques envers la Cultura), a research institution based in Cardona (Catalonia, Spain), committed to interdisciplinary research and the dissemination of knowledge in the humanities and social sciences.
