During guided reading, students will be independently engaged in activities that allow them to practice their reading skills. These activities maximize the time your child spends reading and writing to give them lots of practice. Daily five is many students favorite part of the day! will get to choose from five activities daily:
Reading To Self: Students pick a just right book and find a spot in the room to read to themselves. Many times, these books come from books a student previously read in guided reading.
Reading to Someone: Students find a spot in the room and take turns reading with a friend. This allows students to explore books about similar interests together and encourages great conversations about reading!
Work on Writing: Students have the opportunity to continuing working on or illustrating a story they have been working on in writers workshop. Students may also have an assigned writing task they need to compete during this time.
