The Spring Book Fair is Coming!
White Eagle’s Spring Book Fair is coming! This book fair is a great way to stock up on summer readings. The Spring Book Fair will be held from March 12th - March 22nd. Be looking for more information regarding hours, shopping, Wish Lists and more in the next few weeks . All purchases support the LMC! Be looking for new books in the LMC from the funds we make from the book fair as well as next year’s Monarch and Bluestem award nominees. Thank you again!

Blast Off and Read!
After 6 amazing weeks of reading our White Eagle Blast Off and Read program has come to an end. I am amazed at all the reading that you all have done! It is with great pride that I can announce that together students read over 14,000 hours during this reading challenge! With just about 560 students in our school, that is 25 hours per student... more than two times the required 10 hours. Amazing! The grade level winners that will be receiving a pizza party are: KM, 1JT, 2L, 3H, 4C and 5K. Congratulations! Ticket forms for the Cougars will be coming home at the end of March or beginning of April and Six Flags tickets arrive in May.

Important Dates:
- White Eagle Bluestem Battle on March 4, 2019 from 3:45-4:30 p.m.
- Each team needs 1 Chromebook and a name plate or poster for their team. Come see Mrs. Vieira if you need poster or name plate paper.
- Crosstown Battle (other District 204 elementary schools) March 12, 2019 at Graham Elementary School 5:00-6:00.

Young Authors Writing Contest: K – 5th
Young Authors Writing Contest: K – 5th
Do you like to write? Do you have ideas you want to share? If so, compete in the 2019 Young Author’s Contest. All students may enter an original written story to enter this contest. A few guidelines are:
- Each student may only submit one entry.
- Dictated books may be typed or handwritten by an adult, but most be in the student’s own language.
- Manuscripts (stories) must have a substantial cover with pages securely attached.
- The winner of White Eagle will attend the Illinois Young Authors’ Awards Ceremony on May where he/she will share stories, eat lunch and listen to authors speak about how they write and get books published. Students receive certificates as well as copies of the books written by the author they heard speak.

Students in grades K-12 are invited to take part in the 2019 Doodle 4 Google contest, and create an uplifting doodle that tells the world “When I grow up I hope…” From crayons to clay, graphic design, or even food, young artists can utilize any materials to bring their creation to life. Like all Google Doodles, each doodle must incorporate the letters G-o-o-g-l-e. One national winner will receive a $30,000 college scholarship, a $50,000 technology package for their school/non-profit organization, and a behind-the-scenes experience with the Doodle team to transform their Doodle into an interactive experience on Google.com. How to Enter
- Download and print the entry form at doodle4google.com or ask Mrs. Vieira for an entry form.
- On the entry form, have students create their doodles using any material they want, write their 50-word statement, and have parents sign the form.
- Students can create the doodle on another sheet of paper, take a digital photo, or scan the doodle and tape it to the official entry form. Just be sure that the tape is clear and the doodle fits above the information on the bottom of the entry form.
Doodles need to be submitted online by clicking here by March 18th!!

Due to the Battle of the Bluestems and Spring Book Fair, the Creation Station will be closed for the month of March. This includes Friday morning Creation Station times. It will be pack in April with new ideas and gadgets!
