Kindergarten - 1 book
1st & 2nd Grade - 2 books
3rd, 4th, & 5th Grade - 3 books
You may keep your books for two weeks. Please return them when you are done, even if it is before the two weeks, so other students can read the books you enjoyed!
There are no fines for overdue books. Fines will be assessed through Push Coin for lost or damaged books.
If you have overdue books, you can not check out until your books have been returned. If you forgot your books at home or in your classroom, you can always take a book or two from our Book Swap shelf.
This is a shelf of books that have been donated from Mrs. Cooley's house, Brooks teachers' houses, Brooks students' houses, or other places Mrs. Cooley comes across books. These books are available for students to borrow if they can not check out library books. Bring them back when you are done and find new books on the shelf!
**If you have books you would like to donate to the Book Swap shelf, please contact Mrs. Cooley.
If something happens to your book, please do not fix it at home. Please bring it back to Mrs. Cooley as soon as possible. We will fix the book at school in our book hospital. If the damage can not be repaired, we will assess a fine through Push Coin.
**Please make sure any water bottles that are brought to school are kept in a backpack pocket SEPARATE from your library books (and Chromebook!). This is one of the most common ways our library books are damaged every year. Outside backpack pockets are the safest for keeping your books safe.
If you can not find your book, check again in your backpack, in your desk, in your classroom library book return box, in your bedroom, on your book shelf, under your bed, in your car, or where ever you read your books. Many books are often found in one of these places!
If you still can not find your book, come see Mrs. Cooley in the library. She will give you a lost book note. Books that are lost or damaged will be assessed a fine through Push Coin.
I am so happy to be the LMC Director at Brooks. I have been at Brooks since 2001 in a variety of roles. I have been a teaching assistant, 2nd grade teacher, 1st grade teacher, and now the LMC Director since 2016. I love being in the library working with students and teachers every day!
When I am not at school, I love spending time with my family, reading, and playing the violin. I have two kids in high school who keep us busy with marching band, color guard, music, and horse riding lessons. We enjoy riding our bikes, discovering new places, and traveling together.
Come see me to help find the answer to a question or the perfect book!

Mrs. Gough is our LMC Assistant. She works at Brooks and Steck and helps our libraries function every day! Mrs. Gough helps students find books and knows lots of great books to read! Come ask her for a book recommendation!
Believing that the Library Media Center (LMC) is a fundamental part of the educational program of the schools of Indian Prairie School District #204, the mission of the LMC is to encourage, promote, and assist students and teachers to be effective users of ideas and information and to foster reading and use of a library for lifelong learning.
