End of the Year- Countdown
May 18th - 22nd
May 13 - 15th
May 25th - 28th- tentative -schedule may change
May 4th- 8th
SEL- Our last unit focusses on fair ways to plays. Our song reminds us to share, trade and to take turns.
ELA- Throughout each text students have seen that no matter the season that living things change in the seasons.
Writing- We picked a task that we know how to do and wrote all the steps needed to complete this task. What fun we had sharing them with our peer revisors.
Word Study- Strong readers are very observant. The week's spelling patterns followed a repeated pattern of cvcc. This means that the syllable is closed creating a short vowel sound.
Math- Module 6 dives deeper into the concepts that we already discovered in Module 4. The difference is that students are now exploring numbers beyond 40. Including adding 2 two- digit numbers. While students are introduced to the traditional algorithm it is not expected to have this mastered, but rather understand the "why". Put the ones together to make a new ten.
Home stretch- May Homework Calendar linked here and below.
Science-I hope the gnome gardens are going strong. I would love to see pictures over the summer if they survive. Did you hear that we currently have caterpillars in the room ? We love observing them and learning about their life cycles. Our fingers are crossed that they emerge as butterflies before our last day of school.
May 4th- 8th
Each night students have been assigned a math page to complete in their math workbook. This math workbook was sent home earlier in the semester. Students are not required to return these homework pages unless they want to be part of the homework raffle. Every Friday I will randomly pull a completed homework page that was turned in to receive a raffle prize, My thought is that this raffle opportunity might make homework time less of a struggle at home. No obligation to participate. Wondering which page to complete when, check the homework calendar.
