"All over the UK, everyday people are doing their part to solve the climate change – in unexpected ways. They’re not politicians, or activists, just people who live life with the planet in mind. We’re proud to join forces with COP26, the UN Climate Change Conference to shine a light on the people and stories that are making a difference. The UK’s Climate Leaders. In November, the UK hosts COP26 in Glasgow, bringing world leaders together to tackle the climate change. To build momentum for this pivotal event, we’re asking you to help us celebrate UK Climate Leaders – the schools, community groups, individuals, businesses and others who’ve found meaningful ways to take positive environmental action."
In Highland we are joining forces under the hashtag #HighlandCOP to share and celebrate our Climate Action and Climate Leaders.
Thank you to all the teachers and pupils who attended the recent Climate Change & COP26 talks hosted by the Council’s Climate Change Coordinators, Joe Perry and Katie Andrews. We were delighted to see so many classes engage with the virtual sessions which aimed to answer the basics of climate change and COP26.
As promised, please see below the presentation slides and a link to the video from Science Skills Academy on the climate energy and COP26 which we could not share on the day
If you have any questions about the projects discussed at the talks including signing up for Energy Sparks or Green Impact, please contact carbonclever@highland.gov.uk. We hope to organise some follow up sessions in the New Year and will contact schools to identify suitable dates and times.
We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New year!
