Year 1

English

We will be using the delightful story "Dougal's Deep-Sea Diary". We will innovate this story to create our own diary entry, writing in role as Dougal.

Maths

The children will be exploring multiplication and division. We will be counting in 2s, 5s and 10s. After this, we will be looking at fractions. We will identify halves and quarters of amounts and shapes. We will also begin to explore position and direction. 

Science

Animals including Humans 

Our learning will centre around animals. We will be exploring features of animals and identifying how they may vary from one  another. We will also learn about animals' diets, body parts and use of senses to find out about the world around them.

We will be learning about the 5 Oceans of our planet, physical and human features of the coast and the impact of plastic pollution on these.

Computing

In Computing, we will be exploring what coding is and why it is useful to design before coding. We will also be cresting characters in a 2Code program.


RE

We will be learning about the religion of Islam. This will include learning about the Prophet Muhammad, the Qu'ran and that all Muslims worship at the Mosque.

We will be playing net games and athletics to further develop and gross motor skills.

Design & Technology

We will be creating a woven blanket using recycle materials. We will be building on our weaving skills from previous learning.

Music

In Music, we are exploring element of music, including pulse and rhythms. We will use this to compose our own songs and perform these to our peers. 

RSHE

We will be learning about different jobs and work that people can do and exploring how these can help a comunity.
