Welcome back! We trust that you and your children had a fantastic Easter break and are now rejuvenated and eager to continue their exciting year at Rockliffe Manor. We are thrilled to present the Year 4 curriculum newsletter for the first half of the Summer term, where you can explore the incredible learning opportunities that await your children during this upcoming period.
This half term in English, we will be using the story; 'Diver's Daughter' by Patrice Lawrence to create a newspaper article focusing on the sinking of the Mary Rose.
In Maths, the children will be continuing their learning on decimals before looking into building on their previous years learning of money and time.
In science, the children will be investigating 'living things and their habitats'. The children will be working scientifically by classifying, identifying and comparing different living things.
This half term the children will be delving into the traditional told stories of the Tudor times including Henry VIII as well as looking at the untold stories and experiences of black Tudors in British History.
In Computing, year 4 will be looking at photo editing. The children will develop their understanding of how digital images can be changed and edited, and how they can then be resaved and reused.
RE learning will focus on the religion of Judaism. The children will begin to learn different Jewish rituals such as Bat and Bar Mitzvah.
This half term will see the children work on their multi sport skills in indoor PE. In outdoor PE, they will be practising their striking and fielding skills.
For DT this half term, the children will be linking their science learning to create a moving fan that controls the temperature of an animals habitat.
The children will continue to be musicians of their own right this half term as they connect musical notes to their feelings.
In French, the children will begin to recognise French celebrations and traditions.
Within RHE, the children will be understanding what makes a good online relationship. This will include identifying positive behaviours online, knowing what disrespectful behaviour looks like and responding to different scenarios in order to become better online citizens.
