In Science, Year 1 will be learning about Animals including Humans. We will be identifying different features of animals and using this knowledge to help us classify them into groups such as herbivore, carnivore, reptiles and birds. The children will also look at humans and will be identifying body parts and the sense that is related to it.
In Geography, Year 1 will be learning about oceans and coastlines. They will have an opportunity to identify physical and human features of a coast line such as cliffs and piers. They will then investigate the human effects on coastlines and work together to research ways reduce pollution and protect the waters around the UK. We will be linking this learning with our global learning outcome.
In RE, Year 1 will be learning about Islam and important beliefs within this faith. Children will learn about the Quran and identify features of a place of worship. Throughout the half term we will be working towards answering our assessment question of 'Who was the Prophet Muhammad and why is he so important to Muslims?'
