Exemplifying Standards in

Primary Education

Written in collaboration with Whitefield Infant School and Nursery, Old Palace Primary School and Invicta Primary School

To support teachers in making professional judgements about pupil outcomes in different subject areas, we have developed a set of exemplification materials as a guidance for assessment standards. We have included guidance materials to support practitioners when making Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP) judgements for each of the 17 areas of Learning and Development.

Working in collaboration with staff across a number of schools, we reviewed planning, teaching sequences and pupil outcomes to develop a standards portfolio linked to age related expectations. Staff also undertook moderation procedures to ensure the process was robust and accurately reflected pupil progression for different year groups.

These resources have been developed in collaboration with a range of practitioners from across The Inspire Partnership Trust as well as schools beyond the Inspire Partnership. These schools include Whitefield Infant School and Nursery, Invicta Primary School and Old Palace Primary School. We are extremely grateful to everyone involved for their commitment to this project and hope the resources drive helpful conversations about assessment, learning standards and best practice in primary education.

We hope you find these materials useful.
