NSAI, the coordinator of the VersICaL project, is an emerging European NMI, which has been actively participating in EMPIR capacity building projects since 2014. It has provided impact work package leaders for two of these projects. NSAI maintains scales of impedance and has approved CMCs in this field of measurement. It intends to use the knowledge and experience gained in the VersICaL project to establish in-house impedance scales based on digital techniques so that it can improve the efficiency of its operation, offer improved calibration and measurement services to its customers, and be in a position to take part in future research projects involving impedance metrology. The coordinator is the technical manager responsible for the maintenance and development of the Irish national measurement standards for electrical quantities and for managing the associated laboratory based activities. He has more than 30 years’ experience in electrical metrology and has been the Irish representative on the EURAMET TC-EM since its inception.
