Many WWF teams across the globe have tapped the potential of peer-to-peer (DIY) fundraising. In this round up we're highlighting only a handful of original events. For more, check out our interactive map.
Get inspired by these innovative initiatives from WWF Hong Kong, WWF Germany, WWF UK, and WWF US.
WWF Hong Kong is inviting people to draw & run their own shark-shaped routes. Brilliant? We think so! All funds raised through this event, fittingly, go to shark conservation.
To address a new and potentially large target group - the yogis - the WWF Germany Brand Team brought to life: Yoga for Biodiversity.
Lots of yoga studios signed up to run donation-based yoga classes – and many did! When Covid lockdowns started, the event turned virtual – which resulted in lower participation.
But – the project is beautiful and does tap into a large potential segment – so it’s being relaunched on International Biodiversity Day, May 22, 2023, as a peer-to-peer fundraising event under the CTA “practice with your fellow yogis and raise funds for the protection of endangered species”
One of the UK’s flagship peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives, Wear it Wild, comes with incredible imagery. People are invited to literally ‘wear it wild’ to work, school, or at a family gathering.
The UK team has made available a long list of 'wild' fundraising ideas and resources for anyone to use.
Another excellent peer-to-peer, DIY, fundraising event from the UK team is Brave the Chill. For this one people are encouraged to a quick dip in (very!) fresh outdoor water, cold showers, or icy baths! The aim? To raise a minimum of £150 via JustGiving from peers.
Launched during Covid as a virtual event – and still going strong in 2023 – Panda Paddle was created as an alternative to yet another virtual running event. Beautifully connected to our Fresh Water work at WWF, Panda Paddle invites people onto their Stand-Up Paddleboards on fresh waters all across the country.
The 2022 edition saw people peer-to-peer raise another 90.000 US dollars.
