Why Join JCL?

Each club receives three issues of the state newspaper, Veritas et Scientia. It contains news sent in by individual chapters, current affairs on the state level, important information about state convention, and other items.

Other benefits of IJCL include a club certificate of membership in the IJCL, the right to use the name “Junior Classical League,” the right to attend and participate in the annual state convention, certamen meets, and Fall Latin Day. Read all about these functions on our events page. In addition, club members may attend meetings of the IJCL Executive Board at which policies are set and decisions are made.

Benefits of NJCL membership include the right to attend and participate in the annual six-day national convention, four editions of the national newspaper Torch: U.S., the opportunity to participate in four national online exams, and a JCL membership card for each student.

JOIN JCL

When an Indiana school becomes a chapter of the Indiana Junior Classical League, they pay their national fees at the same time and become a National Junior Classical League chapter as well. A school needs only one member to form a chapter.

IJCL has moved to an online membership registration system. Interested teachers should contact chair@ijcl.org to obtain access to the IJCL Membership Portal.

Every sponsor must be a member of the American Classical League. The annual ACL dues may also be paid through the Indiana Junior Classical League as part of the chapter registration process at the beginning of each year. Otherwise, a sponsor may mail their ACL dues directly to the ACL office:

The student dues and chapter dues increase throughout the year. Please use this schedule as a guideline to help you determine the cost at any given time:

The online membership system will generate an invoice that you will be able to print off and submit to your school treasurer. A copy of that invoice and the membership roster should be sent within one week with check payable to Indiana Junior Classical League (IJCL) to: Jeremy Walker, IJCL Financial Coordinator, 209 Maple St., Crown Point, IN, 46307. We encourage sponsors to also submit a Code of Conduct/Medical Release form for each of their members at that time.

Schools that do not want to have a chapter can have their students join as members at large. Individual students whose schools do not have chapters may also join as members at large. The application form along with payment information is available here: IJCL Member at Large.

State Registration

All Indiana membership work should be done through the state site first. We collect money for both state and national dues to make it easier for you and your treasurer.

IJCL Chapter dues are currently $20.

Individual IJCL member dues are currently $5

Member-at-Large

Students whose school does not have an IJCL chapter can join as a member-at-large.

Complete the Member-at-Large Form and submit payment.
