Anuj GROVER

I am presently working as an Associate Professor in the department of ECE at IIIT Delhi. My research and teaching is focused on Digital Circuits and Systems. I obtained my PhD from IIT Delhi in 2015, MS (Electronic Circuits and Systems) from University of California, San Diego (UCSD) in 2003, and B Tech (EE) from IIT Delhi in 2000. Prior to joining IIIT-Delhi in February 2019, I worked as a Principal Engineer - Member of Technical Staff at STMicroelectronics. In more than 18 years of experience in the semiconductor industry as a Memory Designer, I led teams of upto 20 people, designed embedded memory solutions in a wide range of technologies like Bulk CMOS, BCD, Imaging, UTBB-FDSOI CMOS, e-NVM in technologies from 0.35um to 22nm, and conducted numerous technical and behavioral trainings.

I am a MATRIZ Level-3 Certified practitioner of TRIZ (Theory of Inventive Problem Solving) and have certifications from WIPO on Patent Strategies, and MIT and Tufts on Applied TRIZ. I have worked with many teams to find inventive solutions to the problems they faced. My research includes a flavor of TRIZ in it and I plan to take a course on Creativity and Inventive problem solving in Winter 2021. I have 6 granted patents and many patent applications are pending grant and are in different stages of filing.

My current research interests include Ultra Low Power In-Memory Compute for edge computing and machine learning applications; safety and security in hardware; and error resilient energy efficient systems.

At IIIT Delhi, we take pride in being a Research led Teaching institute. Each one of us strives to do world class research and leverage that learning to enrich our teaching. We also contribute to institute level activities. A quick glimpse of my activities in the three domains is below.

My current research interests include

  • Ultra Low Power In-Memory Compute

  • Safety and Security in Hardware

  • Error Resilient Energy Efficient Circuits and Systems

  • Low Power Circuit Design

My present list of publications is available here.

Teaching is my passion. I presently teach two courses and have conducted many workshops on topics ranging from

  • Digital VLSI Design

  • Personal Leadership

  • Creativity and Inventive Problem Solving

Details of the Courses, Workshops, and Continuing Education Programs is available in the Teaching section of the website.

Contributing for collective good not only helps us develop leadership qualities within ourselves, but also gives immense joy and satisfaction. In addition to various committees, my major service roles include

  • Faculty In-charge International Affairs

  • Faculty In-charge Self Growth

  • Faculty Mentor - ECE Undergraduate Students

I regularly review papers for journals and conferences and have participated in organizing conferences. Some details of the Service contributions are here.

I strongly believe in and work to build synergistic relationships with colleagues in the industry and academia.

I have collaborative projects and joint publications with experts at STMicroelectronics, Synopsys, Western Digital, NXP, Micron etc.

In terms of academic collaborations, I have joint PhD students and joint projects with faculty at IIT Delhi, IIIT Delhi etc.

A brief listing of organizations that I work with/ have worked with is available here.

My students are my inspiration. They inspire me with their openness, curiosity, tenacity, sincerity, persistence, and hard work. I am confident that each one of them will shine like a star and bring happiness and light to all around them. I have the privilege to mentor some great PhD students. Numerous M.Tech students help me explore ideas, and do some great research.

Many B.Tech students also work with me directly on research projects.

I also regularly hire Interns.
