MMT-006 Functional Analysis (4 Credits)

In this course we will study families of functions instead of the properties of individual functions. One familiar example of families of functions are the solutions of differential equations. These families have a natural structure of a vector space and have a norm defined on them. Using the norm, we can introduce a topology on such families of functions. There is a nice interplay between the topological aspects and the vector space aspects that leads us to insights regarding these families. This course is in the form of wraparound. Usually a study guide is sent to the students along with a prescribed book. The prescribed book for this course is `Functional Analysis' by B. V. Limaye. We are making available the study guide here.
