MMTE-006 Cryptography (4 Credits)

In this course we will introduce you to Cryptography the art and science of communicating secrets securely. This is an ancient art that has become increasingly important in the modern age of internet and e-commerce. This course has one credit practical component. MMTE-005 Coding Theory (4 Credits)

This course provides an introduction to the theory of error correcting code. The text book for the course is 'Fundamentals of Error Correcting Codes' by Huffman and Pless. The chapters and sections that are part of the syllabus are listed below. This course has a one credit practical component.

It would be a good idea to brush up your knowledge of finite fields by going through the relevant portions of MMT-003, the Algebra course.

MMTE-007 Soft Computing and Its Applications (4 Credits)


“Soft Computing and its Applications” is a 4-credit course. This course involves theory component as well as practical component. In this course the three main components of soft computing, fuzzy logic, neural networks and genetic algorithms are discussed with applications. The prerequisite dependency for this course is “Probability and Statistics”, (MMT-008) which you would have studied during the second semester of the programme. This course comprises four blocks related to soft computing. It begins with fuzzy set, and fuzzy C-mean algorithm in Block 1. The next two blocks discuss neural network with its applications. In the last block, the course concludes with several genetic algorithms. The practical assignments are listed at the end of corresponding unit. You can find the course material here.


MMTP-001 Project
