You are always invited to visit the teacher´s BLOG : http://biodeluna.wordpress.com/
You can share Biology notes with the other subjects in you ring binder, when we ask you for your Biology notebook you will only hand in the transparent folder with your notes.
To know more about how to do your NOTEBOOK check the Notebook instructions.
When writing in your notebook pay attention to the
· order and neatness,
· orthography,
· English accuracy = No Fatal Mistakes:
ü All sentences in English have a subject.
ü Adjectives virtually always precede the nouns they modify.
ü We add –s to the verb to form the third person singular present tense.
· Scientific vocabulary
· and neatness.
Other than that, EVERY UNIT in your notebook will include:
· A nice, big and well decorated TITLE of the unit (you can decorate it with drawings referring to the unit contents). Start every unit in a new page.
· Then, the theory explanations (so you have to take NOTES of the important things explained during the lessons, or the drawings or graphics form the blackboard)
· All the EXERCISES done (questions in black, answers in blue), and they must be corrected. It means that you have to pay attention to the correction, if your exercise is correct, tick it in red pen, if not, cross it out and write the proper answer in red.
· Diary: everyday you can write a brief paragraph to summarize the day content.
· Every unit should end with a List of Vocabulary
· All worksheets given should be included in the notebook folder
Every time you go to the Laboratory you will compose a Lab Report (a separated page included in the notebook folder). This Lab Report will have these items: Title / Materials / Procedure / Conclusion. Explanations should be accurate and the help of drawings is welcome.
Your notebook will be a transparent folder that includes the notebook papers and worksheets.
You must have this folder ready to be given to the teacher when recquired.
GUIDELINES TO DO A GOOD LAB REPORT ...
Every time you go to the Laboratory you will have to do a Lab Report about the Lab practice done.
This Lab Report will be ready to be checked in your notebook for the next lesson day.
All Lab Reports are done in a separated page.
Every Lab Report must include the following parts (other than name /date and group):
-Title / -Materials / - Procedure/ -Conclusion and/ or opinion
-Title:
Make up a title for the practice that describes what you did in the Laboratory.
Every Lab practice will have an aim that you must identify in that title.
You can also decorate it.
-Materials:
Include a list with all the names and drawings of the materials used.
It is not needed to be an artist but you must do simple but realistic drawings.
Here you find examples to make simple and appropriate material drawings:
- Procedure:
In this part you have to write a complete and personal description of what you did in the Lab. Taking draft notes during the Lab Practice is a must to get a good report.
To achieve a good scientific description it is good to…
Separate the text in paragraphs.
Include the data that you got.
Add drawings to clarify your explanation.
Be ordered and neat.
-Conclusion and/ or opinion
You should end the Lab with the scientific conclusion that you obtained and you can add your opinion about it.
For special activities some other materials could be asked in advance, such as colour pencils, scissors, handcraft stuff, etc.
