The Spanish team flew to Nantes on Monday 11th November with our teachers Juan Antonio Garrido (Geography and History) and Raúl Díez (Spanish Language and Literature)
The meeting with the families took place that same afternoon, where the reception was very emotional since they had been talking for several days before.
Tuesday was our official welcome at the institute, where we started doing ice-breaking activities with our French classmates as well as taking a tour of the whole school to see the different facilities.
After lunch, we visited the city and a World War II bunker that is located in the basement of one of the buildings in the town.
For this visit we were given cameras for a treasure hunt organised by the French teachers.
Wednesday morning began with a workshop called "Educlimat" and how climate change was affecting different countries, and in general the continents of the planet. There they were able to learn how to reduce these problems and how to fight against them.
Later, they made an ecological visit to La Rochelle where they visited several emblematic monuments such as "La torre del Puerto" and the town hall.
To end the day, they bought local food products to prepare different meals for tasting the following day at the farewell party.
On Thursday, our students went to Rochefort to visit the Lagunaje Station, as well as the Transbordeur bridge, built in 1898.
In the afternoon, they visited the International Museum of the Sea, the Louis XIV Rope Factory, where they attended workshops and participated in recreational activities. Here, they learned to tie different knots, and also created a bracelet that they took home as a souvenir.
To end this week of language immersion in France, they visited the La Rochelle aquarium, as well as strolling along the city's beautiful seafront promenade.
They then finished the day with various activities such as the presentation of collaborative work on the monumental and cultural heritage of the area, as well as environmental and ecological issues.
