Opava is a city in the Moravian-Silesian region of Czechia and the historical capital of Czech Silesia. It's close to the Polish border and the Polish city of Katowice.

It has a population of 56.000 inhabitants and lies on the river Opava. It's located at about 27 km from Ostrava, at about 370,5 km from Prague, the capital and at about 300,7 km from Wien, in Austria. It's easliy reached by train from Wien.

It's an important cultural centre of Opavian Silesia as it houses the oldest museum in Czechia and it's theatre was one of the first founded in the country.

It has two main public high schools:

Slezské Gymnázium Opava
Mendelovo Gymnáziom Opava

And it has the only university, not situated in the capital of a region: Silesian University

OBJECTIVES

The main objectives of this group mobility are the following:

To improve the knowledge of foreign languages and communication abilities.
To enrich their curriculum by attending lessons in subjects related to their academic development.
To develop the student’s autonomy to become a citizen of the 21st century
To learn from different cultures to become a respectful citizen

LEARNING PROGRAMME

To achieve the agreed learning outcomes, the students will complete the following activities and tasks during their mobility activity.

The students attended classes in subjects related to their baccalaureate studies at Slezke Gymnazium Opava
They took part in extracurricular activities organized by the hosting school.
They travelled to Prague with their partners.
They took part in the trip organized by the school, to the region of Moravia, in the south of Czechia
