Hillerød is located in the centre of North Zealand approximately 30 km to the north of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is most known for its large Renaissance castle, Frederiksborg Castle, now home to the Museum of National History. The town is surrounded by the former royal forests of Gribskov to the north and Store Dyrehave to the south.
OBJECTIVES
These are the objectives of this group mobility:
To know the sustanability development goals (SDG) and to find better solutions and good practices to improve sustanability at school.
To improve communicative competence and to improve their knowledge of the English language, in particular, given that English is the vehicular language.
To develop social and civic competence, developing students' autonomy in order to become citizens of the 21st century.
To learn about different cultures and become respectful citizens.
We are the people we've been waiting for
Both during our stay in Denmark and during the stay of the denmark, italian and norvegians students in the Basque Country, the structure of the activities was similar. We worked in groups, each group including students of different countries. During our stay in Hillerod, we made different workshops in order to find solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). We also visited the UN City located in Copenhagen to work on these goals and students prepared and tasted fried insects as sustanaible food in future.
STEAM Project 2022 Azkena.pdfOur students presented the STEAM project showing one of the sustainability effort at our school. The initiative of the school was to create an interdisciplinary project including different scientific subjects. The main and driving subject is Scientific Culture.
In this STEAM Project students have realised the importance of different ingredients of bread and their effects in our health. It's possible to produce a tasty sourdough bread for everybody.
PROGRAMME OF ACTIVITIES
First of all, we visited the Frederiksborg Gymnasium and the objective of the project, "We are the people we've been waiting for" programme was introduced. After lunch students made the presentations of sustainability efforts at their schools and worked on SDGs in groups. Students had also the opportunity to join the school's "Toj-Tirsdag" (clothes bazar) in the canteen.
On the second day students had a workshop on food waste cooking learning about how cook with less food waste. Thanks to Rub and Stub association students immersed in a great experience contributing to a more sustainable food culture. After lunch we visited the UN City and worked in the SDGs there.
On the third day, by the hand of Bugging Denmark, we knew and tasted insects , specifically crickets, as food. Bugging Denmark produces crickets in their urban cricket farm and they believe that the large-scale insect farming could be part of our future food production. Crickets are very healthy, sustainable and taste great.
Finally, we visited Hillerod and the Frederiksborg Castle. The castle was built by King Christian IV in the early decades of the 17th century and is the largest Renaissance complex in the Nordic region. Denmark's Museum of National History has been housed at Frederiksborg Castle since 1878. In addition to magnificent rooms such as the Chapel, the Rose, the Audience Chamber and the Great Hall, the Museum contains Denmark's most important collection of portraits and history paintings.

At the end of the challenge Botikazar students published their research results. They created many different documents and supports to explain the project and some conclusions at the Basque Scientific Exhibition in Bilbao: a magazine, rolls-up…and their own bread!
