Health Plans
Students with health considerations that could impact learning, accessibility needs, etc. should contact the office to be assisted with a health plan. For some concerns, this may be as simple as marking in our student information system that a student has an allergy, for example. For others, a designated written health plan may need to be in place so teachers and staff best know how to assist the student in the case of a health episode. For medication needs during school hours, see the main office for further details.
Academic Accommodation Plans/504s/IEP Services
All students have varying learning styles. For some, it requires a written accommodation to support a student's learning to be as successful as they can be. Regina works with students and their family, and often times the student's outside support staff (i.e. therapist, psychologist, physician, academic evaluator) to formulate a plan that best serves the student.
Student Testing Accommodations for National or Standardized Tests
ACT:
The ACT company offers a variety of accommodations for ACT testing, based on the student need and what accommodations ACT may have available for that student. Students with documented learning disabilities, physical or emotional disabilities or designated as an English as a Second Language (ESL) learner may be eligible. See the ACT Accommodations and English Learner Supports website for more details.
The basics:
Students must register for the ACT and indicate they intend to test with accommodations long before ACT's posted regular registration deadline.
Students or their family must communicate with the designated school official and provide the ACT Student ID # and supporting documents, as needed.
Parent or Guardian must complete the Consent to Release Information form to have on file at school.
The school official will submit information and supporting documents for ACT to review.
ACT will issue a decision-- will be emailed to the designated school official and mailed to the student's address on file.
For each future ACT, the designated school official must be notified to submit an accommodations request for that particular testing day. (Rationale--ACT recognizes that some students may want to use accommodations for one test, but take a future test without the accommodations to compare.) This must be completed before the late registration deadline posted by ACT.
_____
SAT/PSAT/AP tests
These tests are all run by the same company - the College Board.
More information about accommodations can be found here.
The eligibility process is similar the ACT, but the accommodation request only needs to be completed once for all three types of tests - the PSAT, the SAT or any AP testing. The school's designated Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) coordinator must submit a request for testing accommodations very early. The College Board will issue a decision. Note: Accommodations may vary between test types (For example: Extended time may be approved for a PSAT, but not for a particular AP class, such as AP Art).
