During this tragic pandemic, there have been over 11 million Covid-19 cases worldwide, including over 300,000 deaths worldwide. While there have been many vaccines in the development phase, there is no vaccine currently available to protect against the disease. Many companies claim they will be able to release a safe and effective vaccine soon. It is a race to the finish to see who will be first.
One major company undergoing the process of sending out Covid-19 vaccines is BioNTech. This company is important because they worked with Pfizer to develop the vaccine. Many have high expectations for BioNTech and Pfizer´s vaccines to be the most effective. They have 43,000 completed trials and their vaccine is considered,“an almost perfect vaccine, in some respects,” Dr Sahin told The Financial Times.
Another important company trying to perceive a vaccine is Pfizer, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. This is an important company because they have been able to conduct vaccine trials in over 6 countries and 43,000 participants to be exact. With the amount of research they have, they can easily report it to BioNTech to make a more effective measurement to their vaccine.
Last, but not least, another dominant company trying to save this pandemic is Moderna. They have proven to have better results than BioNTech and Pfizer´s vaccine. They have the most effective vaccine so far with a 94.5 percent efficacy rate, not to mention over 30,000 patient studies. Their vaccine is demonstrated to be 4.5 percent more effective than BioNTech and Pfizer´s.
Overall, each company shows exceptional promise. At this point, we are just weeks away from full approval. The first round of recipients will be first responders. Teachers will be in the second round of recipients.
