As soon as Registration is completed, there will be a short Reading session (9:00 – 9:10). Children’s reading records will be monitored and requests to change books will require a signature from a parent/carer to confirm the book has been completed.
Children are paired with a new Talk Partner each week. These pairing are selected randomly.
This constant change means that children appreciate the fairness factor and gain from a variety of social and learning experiences they encounter;
Share learning with different children and not just the same group;
Avoids the use of ability groups – boosts confidence of lower achieving children;
Can be used at any time in any lesson;
They get to hear and share opinions;
Make new friends and get to know other people in their class;
Fun and supporting – if children need help they can ask their partner rather than their teacher. Children can sometimes be nervous about asking the teacher because they have to admit they don’t know. This also means they are developing independent learners.
P.E. Kit should be worn every Friday.
See PE Kit
Each child will need their own supply of blue/black rub out pens. A white board pen, colouring pencils and felt pens would also be useful.
There will be an opportunity for all Class 6 children to experience a residential trip to Glan Llyn, usually in Term 2.
All Year 6 children are eligible to stand in elections for House and Vice Captains. Elections will take place within the first few weeks of returning to school in September. All KS2 pupils vote for their House/Vice Captain.
Children can nominate themselves; prospective nominees will be expected to present a short ‘Vision Statement’ prior to class elections.
These prestigious roles are decided by the Head Teacher in consultation with staff, and usually announced during the first few weeks of the new school year.
In September, you should receive information from Denbighshire County Council, explaining the process of applying for a Secondary School place for your child.
