Children are greeted at the class gate by the class teacher. They then enter school, hang up their coats and bags, putting any lunchboxes and snack pots in the correct storage areas. Once in the classroom the children read their school reading books independently until it is time for the register. See Drop Off information
Children have a morning break and an afternoon break along with a break following their lunch. This will be outside on the school yard unless the weather is very bad. The children do go out to play in the rain so it is very important that they always have a coat to wear.
All children eat their lunch in the school hall. The younger children eat first (Reception, Year 1 , Year 2 and Year 3) whilst the older children are outside having a playground break. Children can choose to have either a school dinner or bring their own packed lunch. Please see Lunchtime Information.
At 3:15 children will be brought to their class gate to meet their parents. Please can parents wait outside the gate for their children and make themselves easily seen by members of staff. If children are attending Jester's After School Club they will wait in their classroom until a member of Jester's staff collects them. See Pick Up information
Children are now encouraged to come to school ready dressed for PE. They will need to wear plain black / grey jogging top and bottoms over the top for warmth which they will remove during the PE lesson.
Please make sure that all school uniform and PE kit is clearly labelled with the child's name as this is a time when clothes can get muddled up! See PE kit information.
Children will need to bring their school reading books to school everyday so that they can have daily reading practise. They will also bring their books home every day to practise with an adult as often as possible. Regular reading practise at home is vital in order to help children progress with many aspects of their education.
Children will read to a member of staff at least once a week. They will bring home new reading books every week and will have a reading record book for staff and parents to write down comments about the child's progress.
Children will take part in outdoor lessons every week. This will be in all kinds of weather except for heavy downpours or extreme cold. Please ensure that your child has appropriate clothing for all types of weather so they can enjoy the sessions fully. This may involve sending your child with a hat, scarf and gloves in the winter. See Outdoor Clothing.
