This term, our newsletter has been written by the children themselves.
Maths - by Eloise
For this term we have been learning about roman numerals, the perimeter of rectilinear shapes and looked at our skills of area. We have also spent a long time looking at multiplication and division.
Inquiry - by Emile and Niki
This term in Inquiry, we have been learning about the Romans and how their life is much different than ours. We have been learning about their clothes and how they have to kill animals to survive. They would use the skin for clothes and the meat for food. For the last couple of days we have been learning about liquid, gases and solids. For example we learnt how sugar isn’t a liquid because all the tiny bits are staying where they are, not moving into the shape of their container like a liquid. Also, this term, we have been using a thermometer to find out how many degrees something is. We used this to measure the temperature of liquids and solids, we linked this work with our Maths skills.
Reading - by Isabelle
From this term we have been reading a book called ‘Romans on the Rampage’ because we are learning about the Romans. I enjoy reading lessons because it is very interesting as we get to learn about the Romans. Since not many people know about the Romans because it was such a long time ago. We thought about the main character of Perilus and what he does with his family.
Secondary lessons - by Emile and Indi-Ella
For this term we learnt different types of gymnastics skills like the v-sit and egg roll. We also learnt music with our recorders and in Computing about fake news and fake images with Mrs Partridge. We have thought about landscapes and settlements in our Humanities sessions and we were able to link these to our Roman settlement work.
Dogs Trust - by Rosie
From this term we have been visited by the Dogs Trust and we have learnt about how to be safe around dogs and we can’t touch dogs when they are eating and when their sleeping. If a dog you don’t know, cross your arms and whatever you have in your hands drop like food so the dog does not jump up at you and it does not bite you. You should always ask your parents to ask the dog owner to touch and stroke their dog.
