Berners-Lee have had a very busy and enjoyable term. The children have enjoyed studying The Dot by Peter Reynolds, they thought deeply about how they could apply a dot and they came up with some wonderful ideas such as a bowl of peas, Rudolph and a cat's nose. They created a picture and a piece of written work reflecting their thinking. This text led them to the work of George Seurat a french artist who devised pointillism (using dots to paint). The children all collected leaves and used them as a template to create their own pointillism picture using solely dots to show shape and shading. The class also read Laura's Christmas Star which acted as the inspiration for one of their Christmas gifts to their adults. In DT the children enjoyed planning and working with clay and paint to create their own candle holder. All of the designs were amazing. Of course the finale to this term is the nativity show - what maturity the children have shown learning their parts with aplomb.
