We’ve come to the end of a fabulous term and the children have produced some fantastic pieces of work. They’ve been taking risks and using their thinking skills in the work to produce these amazing pieces.
Inquiry
During our Inquiry, we have been looking at how we express ourselves, how light may be used to express ideas and celebrate cultural events. To begin with, we looked at what light is, where light comes from and how it is used Prehistoric until now. This enabled us to create some great science experiments, some amazing artwork and even some fabulous writing outcomes. We then looked at different countries, how they get light and what they use it for. This allowed us to research low income countries and write a persuasive letter to electric companies to ask for more support for our chosen country. Finally, we looked at different cultures from around the world and how they use light to celebrate their festivals.
The children this term have been able to make connections with previous learning, including last term where we began to look at culture and who we are.
Maths
In Maths this term we have been focusing on addition, subtraction and multiplication. We have been able to understand different models (whole part, number line and bar model) and use a range of methods (column, next ten, grouping and sharing) to answer questions, calculations linked with addition and subtraction as well as multiplication and division. Well done to those children who have moved up in the TTRS rock status - everyone has been working super hard at their times tables!
Mr Douglas and I have been really proud of their continued development and reflection to improve themselves and each other.
