End of Term 2
What a busy end to Term 2 we had. This time of year is always full of a number of events but with this being the first time in a while that we have been able to put on all of them it has definitely felt busier than ever.
Christmas Performances
First of all, the Christmas performances. The pupils in Year R put on an excellent nativity performance with some fantastic acting, singing and narration. There were even guest appearances from some of literature's most well known characters such as the Three Little Pigs and Robin Hood. Year 1 and Year 2 also showcased some great acting and singing skills in their Christmas performance before the pupils in Key Stage 2 made us all feel very festive with some classic and some more modern Christmas songs at their carol concert. We would like to thank all the staff involved in organising these events as a lot of preparation and rehearsal time goes in to these before hand. We would also like to thank parents for helping with costumes and helping pupils to learn both their lines and the words to the songs (we are sure that some of these songs will stick with you for a long time).
Santa's Grotto
Following these performances, we had some very special visitors in school, Santa and his elf Oli who took time out of their busy schedule in the lead up to Christmas to visit with the pupils. During the day, the children took it in turns to visit Santa and Oli in his Grotto which had been kindly decorated by members of the PTA.
Christmas Fair
The last Friday of term saw the return of the Christmas Fair. It was great to see so many pupils and parents there to enjoy the food and activities that had been put on and to listen to performances from the steel drum band and the primary choir. I think some of the solos and duets will live long in parents memories. Events like this take a huge amount of planning ahead of time and need a lot of help to set up and run on the day so thank you to all those in the PTA that helped to make it a fantastic event.
Christmas Dinner
The last day of term probably felt the most festive day of all. Not only because it was the last day before the holidays but because it was also Christmas Dinner day (and many of the pupils were dressed in their Christmas jumpers as well). Everything is made a little more festive on Christmas dinner day in school with Christmas music playing in the background, the tables all decorated in Christmas paper, every place laid with a Christmas cracker and no need to queue as table service is provided by the teaching staff. Thank you to all of the kitchen staff because serving this many Christmas dinners is no easy task but to go above and beyond with the table decorations and Christmas deserts just makes everything feel even more festive.
From all at the school we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Have a really good holiday and we look forward to seeing you all on Thursday 5th January 2023.
