It has been a very successful first term back and children have shown a great attitude towards their learning.
This term, we have completed the 2016 SATs papers to start our preparations for the KS2 SATs in May and to ensure we are familiar with the style of questions and to be 'exam ready'. This is an ongoing focus and is something we will be completing on a termly basis. Continued engagement with reading at home, spellings and times tables are really important, and additional work at home will complement the learning in the classroom.
All the children have been hooked by this term's lines of inquiry. Our central idea has been science focussed and children have carried out investigations and explorations to support their understanding and to develop scientific skills. The hard work in the secondary lessons has allowed us to apply our skills and knowledge in different subject areas. We have created fantastic haiku poems about adaptation; compared and sketched tortoises (Charlie and Podrick); written a biography about Charles Darwin; compared different religions views about afterlife, and created fantastic travel brochures about the Galapagos Islands.
It has been a brilliant term and Mrs Bassett, Mr Bullock and I hope that you all have a lovely half term break.
