We’ve come to the end of a fabulous first term and the children have produced some fantastic pieces of work. They’ve been reflected in their behaviour, contributions and in the work that they’ve produced. We have been lucky this term to have more secondary lessons than previous year groups and the children have responded well to the change in teachers.
Computing
We have been looking at computer networks, systems and the internet. This included looking at how the internet works and the connections between servers and routers and how they must all be connected in order for them all to work together.
We have as always considered how to be safe online and this term we spent time exploring what fake news is, why people produce fake news and how to stay safe online if we believe something not to be true.
Humanities
We have explored maps, grid references and scales this term. We have learnt what small scale and large scale maps are, how to locate places using grid references and that aerial photos can also be used to support our understanding of an area.
Drama
We have looked at how emotions can be used in drama and how drama and amphitheatres were used in ancient Greece to tell stories. We have used our voices to convey emotions and thoughts and used exaggerated movements to support our actions.
PE
We have developed our football skills this term and then applied them in games. We have also worked on our teamwork and communication skills as part of our PE sessions.
MFL
This term we have applied our Year 3 learning and extended this when looking at and describing the weather. We have described the weather and then explained how this makes us feel. We have been communicating this verbally and in our books.
Music
We have begun to learn the recorder this term. So far we have learnt the b, a and g notes and are looking at playing these but also reading these when written as notes on a piece of music. These skills will continue to be developed across the year.
