Chemical Microscopy Reagent Sets I & II
Shillaber? c. 1961
Each set contains approx. ½ mL samples of 60 different chemical reagents and materials, as proposed in the text by E. M. Chamot and C.W. Mason, in individual labeled screw cap glass vials. Each set is contained in a mahogany box, with a chart inside the lid indexed to the vials.

Tapered glass applicator rods (commercial and/or made by Dr. Russell) are also displayed. The rods are used to apply and manipulate reagents etc. on microscope slides. There are two sets of chemical reagents, accompanying, respectively the two volumes of the Chamot and Mason text, Handbook of Chemical Microscopy, v. I & II 2nd ed. Both sets plus another Set I were purchased for the research and teaching of Dr. Russell in the HSU Chemistry Department.
Some chemical vials were removed as unsafe in a museum display due to their toxicity or reactivity. The vials were replaced in the open set number I with empty vials, but some were left out in set II as the vials were covered and not visible.
