Dear 4th Grade Parents,
This year your child will have the opportunity to be the star student for the week. They have already signed up for their week during Back to School Night or the 1st week of school. During your child’s star week, they are invited to create a star week poster. Children can decorate it in a way that showcases who they are as a person. This can include but not limited to sports they enjoy, family photos, books they’ve read, favorite foods etc. More information can be found under “ME Poster”. During this week your child will be expected to lead the class meeting. They will pick the greeting, the sharing topic, and game that the class will read. They will also be my learning leader this week. They will be helping me prepare the classroom for the day and making sure other classroom jobs are getting done. In addition, if your child has a summer birthday they are welcome but not required to bring their birthday treat during this week. All other kids are welcome to bring their birthday treat the week of or on their birthday. Again no one is required to bring a treat if you do not want to. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Star posters are given to your child the weekend before they are due. I typically give them out Thursdays or Fridays. That way they will have the weekend to work on it. Star posters are due on Monday of your child’s star week. This is such a fun way to get to know everyone in the class and the students typically look forward to it!
Your star week is already here! We are so excited to learn all about you and get to know our fearless leader. You are expected to make a Me poster to introduce to the class on the Monday of your star week. Please be creative and take your time. These will be displayed.
Follow these directions to make a Me Poster:
Start with a blank poster board
Cut out words, pictures from old magazines, facebook, google images that describe you. This can include but not limited to; activities you like to do, family pictures, favorite book, favorite tv show/movie, favorite food, include something that no one knows about you--- Have fun with this the world is your oyster!
Paste all of these wonderful things onto your poster. Decorate the poster however you would like. Be sure to to include your name.
Be sure to be prepared to present your poster on the Monday of your star week. You will be asked to:
Display the poster in front of the class so that all the students can see the decorations
You will present the items on the poster, explaining how the pictures/words/drawings reflect the person you are.
Most importantly be creative and have fun!!
Mrs. Judge
