Woods Technology II
Woods Technology II
Woods Technology II builds on the foundational skills introduced in Woods Tech I, offering students expanded opportunities to refine their craftsmanship, deepen their understanding of woodworking tools, and apply their skills in advanced projects.
This hands-on course emphasizes precision, safety, and creativity through real-world applications. Students review key measuring and safety principles while advancing their experience with the jointer, planer, table saw, and other power tools. Throughout the course, they complete a variety of skill-based and design projects—such as a Swiss Box, Picture Frame, and Mouse Trap Race Car—each designed to enhance problem-solving and technical accuracy. Please note: Projects are subject to change based on available materials, time, and class needs.
Students will:
Reinforce and expand safe operation of both stationary and handheld woodworking equipment
Perform precise measurements, including board foot calculations and fractional conversions
Demonstrate proper joint construction and finishing techniques
Apply design thinking and planning skills to layout and build multi-part projects
Obtain machine certifications for advanced shop equipment
By the end of Woods Tech II, students will not only have completed several advanced woodworking projects but also built the confidence and skills to work more independently, preparing them for future courses or real-world applications in the trades.
