Welcome to Woods Technology!
Dear Students and Families,
I am excited to welcome you to Woods Technology this school year! My name is Mr. Brest, and I will be your student’s shop teacher. I bring nearly two decades of teaching and trade experience, and I am passionate about helping students learn practical woodworking skills, shop safety, and the satisfaction of building something with their own hands.
In Woods Technology, students will:
Learn to safely and responsibly use a variety of hand and power tools.
Gain an understanding of woodworking processes from measuring to finishing.
Complete hands-on projects that grow in complexity throughout the year.
Develop responsibility, teamwork, and pride in craftsmanship.
Safety is our number one priority. Students will receive direct instruction and guided practice to ensure they understand how to work carefully in the shop. Good safety habits are the foundation of everything we do.
My goals are to:
Help students gain confidence in using tools and machines.
Teach them skills they can apply in school, at home, and in future careers.
Foster creativity and problem-solving through project-based learning.
I also believe communication is key. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am looking forward to working with you and your student for a safe, fun, and productive school year.
Sincerely,
Mr. Mark Brest
