It is always an exciting time for our Year 6 students to begin thinking about their transition to Secondary! This is a continual process throughout Term 3.
The most important thing is that we can discover every individual's questions, their targets and the things they are looking forward to.
We also work together to identify any common worries our Y6 students may have, such as, "do we get a lot of homework???" and "will I get lost?!"
Q&A: We give our Y6 students time to think about their own individual questions and we then share these with our current Secondary students, who host ‘welcome workshops’ so everyone can find out all the answers they need.
This is part of our ‘Y7 Transition Day’ which takes place every year in June.
Y7 Transition Day: This is hosted in June each year and the schedule is shared to families and students in advance...
The activities planned on this day are designed to be a lot of fun and to help prepare students for their next step in August, when they join the Secondary Phase at HHIS.
Stepping Up: Students spend the whole day in Secondary and due to the busy and active nature of the day, we ask that students wear blue and white PE / Sports Kit. Students should bring a bag, water bottle, pens and pencils.
For Parents: Following the transition day, there are workshops for families to attend and continued guidance for the new academic year is shared.
