Financial Literacy

Course Length: 1 Semester

Prerequisite: Grades 10-12 due to the career discussions and math skills needed.  

The goal of Financial Literacy is to provide students with the tools to become financially responsible individuals. Students will understand career preparation and job acquisition skills, describe the nature of tax liabilities, prepare a budget, make decisions regarding their personal banking needs, evaluate savings and investing options to meet financial goals, analyze the factors that affect the choice of credit and managing debt, and how to protect themselves against possible identity theft.

The following additional courses also fulfill the state graduation requirement for Financial Literacy:

AP Micro/Macro Economics, CP Economics, and Consumer Economics
