Students can earn up to 2.0 high school credits for an unpaid internship. This credit recognizing and encourage skill development and provide experience.
Note: This is unpaid work so the school division is responsible for providing clear expectations for the safety and health of students. Paperwork must be completed prior to the placement for hours to count. Students should talk to the guidance department if they are interested in this credit.

Hospital or Clinic Assistant: Shadowing nurses or medical office assistants, helping with administrative tasks.
Pharmacy Assistant: Learning about prescriptions, inventory, and patient care.
Dental Clinic Intern: Supporting dental hygienists with non-clinical tasks like patient intake or sterilization procedures.

Teacher’s Assistant: Assisting in early years or elementary classrooms with prep work, reading groups, and classroom organization.
Daycare Helper: Supporting early childhood educators in planning and supervising play-based activities.

IT Support Assistant: Helping with hardware setup, software troubleshooting, and system organization in schools or offices.
Law & Public Service
Law Office Assistant: Filing documents, observing client meetings, learning about the legal system.
RCMP or Police Services Intern: Assisting with community outreach programs or administrative support (with appropriate permissions).
City Office Intern: Supporting planning departments, libraries, or recreational programming.

Museum or Gallery Intern: Assisting with exhibit setup, tours, or educational materials.
Graphic Design Studio Assistant: Helping design promotional materials or manage digital content.
Local Newsroom or Radio Station Intern: Observing reporting processes or helping with editing and social media.

Marketing Assistant: Supporting promotional campaigns, social media planning, or event coordination.
Entrepreneurship Placement: Working with a small business to learn about operations, inventory, and customer service.

Greenhouse or Garden Centre Intern: Learning about plant care, soil prep, and customer support.
Animal Shelter or Vet Clinic Assistant: Helping with basic animal care, cleaning, and administrative duties.
