SCI.K.PS.5 Demonstrate an understanding of the connections between the scientific ideas studied and a range of careers, hobbies, and activities. Example: geologist, farmer, fire fighter, astronomer, biologist, teacher, doctor, gemologist, rock collecting, prospecting, gardening, traditional and seasonal picking of plants, stargazing, birdwatching, indigenous storytelling related to seasons and life, storytelling, crafting, seasonal sports, etc.
Cluster 1: Trees
K-1-07: Describe seasonal changes in the life of a tree.
Career Connection: Discuss the role of foresters and environmental scientists who study and manage tree populations and forest ecosystems.
K-1-08: Investigate to determine that many trees produce seeds which are dispersed and may grow into new trees.
Career Connection: Introduce botanists and horticulturists who specialize in plant reproduction and growth.
