Your Kaupapa or idea - . The class Kaupapa started with Turangawaewae and then moved onto the concept of journey. What direction will you take as you move this concept forwards.
Consider how can tell a story. Think about the journeys you have completed or are currently on.
DEVELOP YOUR KAUPAPA
To identify your strengths and direction you wish to take, you need to analyze your work by laying it all out and considering the following questions
What aspects of your work are most successful and what makes it so? [idea, media, technique]
Which formal elements are you dealing with in your favourite works?
How well do you think you have conveyed the class Kaupapa within Turangawaewae up to this point? which was stronger
what do you need to change for your Kaupapa to work [do you need/want to change direction completely?]
USE THE 1.4 Planning Ideas document to formulate your direction
Brainstorm in your visual idea key questions that interest you. Include sketches, images, artists etc that come to mind [upload this to your digital workbook]
ARTIST MODELS
You will work with the artist models provided in class, BUT it is also recommended that you again personalise your response and select artist models that can work in conjunction with or in addition to those in class.
Use the artist model padlet [under established practice] to look at artists that you find interesting [2-3 artists]. These need to be artists that fit with your theme or ones that will guide the conventions that you use [formal elements/media use]. You will integrate aspects of these artists work into your own, so when selecting artists take into account
style and mood of the work
Colour schemes used
Compositional elements
Techniques, media and materials used
Ways of treating the subject matter to convey meaning and ideas [refer back to artist examples of subject Vs theme slides]
Record your Brainstorm on ideas, images and artist models in your Sketchbook and upload this to your digital workbook
You will also need to complete a document called Intention statement which will outline your theme, subject matter and ideas [this can also be submitted as a spider map]
