Our theme for Semester 2 is

NO MORE PLASTIC BAGS

Over the semester we are going to look specifically at the single use plastic bag industry and how this is becoming less and less of a thing as more large industries are switching to paper or reusable bags in a bid to make a difference to climate change.

| THE BRIEF |

+ You are going to design and make 2 bags for 2 specific stakeholders,

+ One of which is given and one of which is your choice

You will be planning and documenting your ideas and processes as well as completing your own research into this matter.

WEEK 1:

Research

Step 1: Set up how you are going to record, present your research and work

This could be as a slide show, a series of blog posts (or one big one you add to), a google drawing - but it does need to be able to hold all the information for your projects

Step 2: Start researching to answer the questions

Do this in the way you work best

Step 3: MOOD BOARD

Create a digital moodboard exploring alternatives to plastic bags

This can include both information and images - try and find as many different examples as you can

Research Questions:

Why are there no more single use plastic bags
How does this relate to climate change?
Present your information and include pictures, diagrams, clips but make sure to write this in your own words. Do not cut and paste information

What does a good bag need?

CONSIDERATIONS

You must include:

+ a pocket

+ some sort of design on the front or back - this could be sewn on, painted on, 2 different fabrics sewn together, patchwork bag

What you need to complete On your pLANNING doc:

design sketch (front and back view) - do this on paper and photograph - why have you designed it this way? What bag style will you choose?
what materials do you need?
pattern - this could be found or created by you
tutorials (if applicable)
