While we are having time at home and away from school, let's try to keep up our art skills and put them to practice in our home environments.
Set yourselves a theme to work with or just use any ideas that come to mind.
Below is a series of art activities designed to put what you have already learnt into practice.
How can you use your own clothing and other material to create something that represents KAITIAKITANGA?
The Key Focus here is on TONE and SHAPE
Make sure you use a range of similar tones (analogous colours) to create SHADOWS and HIGHLIGHTS
You can also use any form of grainy substance for this e.g. tea bags, dirt, sand etc. Please make sure with your parents or caregivers that it is ok to use these first!
Here we are focussing on SPACE - positive vs. negative
Design a composition that uses the left over space (negative space) as much as the positive space to represent Kaitiakitanga. How clever can you get? This can be a whole drawing like the ones below or it can be a logo you design like a stencil or a stamp
Here are just a few ideas for using food items as 'paint'
What can you use to mix with water to create your own paint?
Can you have a go at painting an image related to Kaitiakitanga using a range of different materials?
If you do happen to have paint at home or you found something from the last activity that was good to mix with water, have a go at now finding new 'tools' to apply paint onto your page
Focus here is MARK MAKING, PATTERN and TEXTURE
How can you use repetition and angles to create a new image from the shapes and marks that your tools create?
Let's make sure we share all of our creations and experiments on our blogs.
Below is a framework for you to use
