Use a screener 1-3 times per year on ALL students to identify potential reading difficulties. Screeners may also be used to monitor progress. More information here.

Use diagnostic screeners when more detailed information about learning needs and progress is needed for instruction or intervention, or to monitor progress.

Use a summative assessment at the end of a unit or year to understand students' skills, communicate learning to stakeholders, and support reflection on instructional practices or resources.
