New Digital Resource – Science Online

The Sask Ed Curriculum Resource – Science Online – facilitates STEM research and discovery by allowing students to locate information as well as evaluate and apply their findings. This database is designed primarily for high school students, but some content is also appropriate for students in grades 6 to 8.  Students will find expertly researched content from encyclopedic references on core science areas, such as:

Science Online has unique features not found in other research databases, such as timelines and 1,600 experiments. The timelines are a useful tool to help learners understand the sequence of scientific events. Science Online includes two types of experiments: interactive and printable. Interactive experiments are completed online and printable experiments are completed by students in the classroom. The database also includes images, diagrams, and videos.

Find a link to Science Online on the Provincially Licensed Resources page on Blackboard. Students can use it in the classroom or at home by logging in with school division, education authority or Blackboard Learn credentials.

Project Learning Tree

Project Learning Tree Canada (PLT Canada) is about  environmental education, forest literacy, and career pathways, using trees and forests as windows on the world. Resources offer a lifetime of learning from early childhood through adulthood.  The site offers key opportunities for young people to explore nature and the diversity of green careers in the forest and conservation sector as we grow future forest and conservation leaders.

Through hands-on educational activities and resources children and young adults are engaged in inquiry and place-based learning about the environment through the lens of trees and forests. Learn about the key role sustainable forest management plays in the fight against climate change, explore diverse career opportunities in Canada’s green sector, encourage critical and creative thinking, and more!

Whether you are a kindergarten teacher, or high school science teacher PLT activities use nature to teach about math, science, social studies, language arts, and more. Our activities supplement and enhance your existing curriculum and bring learning to life.
