Welcome to Dual Enrollment Accounting I and II through Richard Bland! 

We will be learning quite a lot this school year! Students will be earning two college courses from one class this school year. We will be using Canvas through Richard Bland to complete all our assignments.

Course Dates:

• July 24 - September 22, 2023 - Accounting I

• October 10 - December 19, 2023 - Accounting II

Schedule:

Week One: We were getting to know each other and learning about what accounting is.  

Week Two: We started Chapter One of our textbook. We are using an online textbook through OpenStax. Students will learn about the different types of businesses - retail, service, and manufacturing.

Week Three: Chapter Two will be covered this week. Students will learn about financial statements as well as the three main types of organizations - sole proprietors, partnerships, and corporations. 

Week Four: Chapter Three will be introduced this week, focusing on establishing the vocabulary and learning the difference between an asset, liability, and stockholder's equity. 

Week Five: The students will be learning about the different professions where accountants are needed to help businesses function. They will complete a module in EVERFI on careers in accounting and then create a project about a career they might be interested in going into if they chose accounting as a career.  THURSDAY - NO SCHOOL - PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES.
