Welcome to Cybersecurity!

We will be learning quite a lot this school year! Students will be learning how the internet works, have to be safe online, passwords, cryptography, how computers work, and more! I'm excited to have your student in class! All of our lessons will be posted in Google Classroom. 

Schedule:

Week One: We were getting to know each other and learning about what cybersecurity is.  We started our unit called Social Media and Me. After polling the students, this is what the students desired to learn about first. The students made avatars of themselves! I posted a few below.

Week Two: We continued our unit called Social Media and Me. The final product was making digital footprints for their project. See the examples below!

Week Three: We will begin our unit on the Internet of Things. Students will learn about networks, and how data moves back and forth, and we will talk about the Internet of Things and create a project, highlighting specific items which are connected to the Internet.

Week Four: This week we are learning how the internet works in more specific ways. The students will learn about sending packets through the internet and how the internet uses IP addresses and DNS to communicate. Students will end the week by completing an Hour of Code where they will learn to code by creating a game or app for their phone.

Week Five: Students will learn about the different individuals who have helped to create the internet and cybersecurity as we know it today. They will end the week by creating a project over different individuals or events from cybersecurity. THURSDAY - NO SCHOOL - PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES.
