Class of 2004
I am the Manager of Respiratory Care at UAB Hospital. I manage day to day operations of 250+ RTs, budgeting, managing supply needs, implementing new policies, and many other tasks. I work with other leaders in the hospital to make sure the patients are taken care of.
Time management skills. Interacting with a diverse student and faculty population, a wide range of courses to select from to prepare me for the future.
I knew I wanted to be in the medical field. I learned about respiratory from a sorority sister when I was at UAB. I shadowed an RT one day and changed my major. After college I started working as a staff therapist, got my master’s degree, and moved up from there.
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Do something that you love and you will be happy in your life and at work. Everything doesn’t always go the way you plan, but if you keep working hard, you will get there.
Gia Graddy- Choir
I learned so much from her about character building, patience, task management, and understanding others. Her class was always fun, but she knew how to keep everyone on task. I admired those qualities and think they are important skills to have when teaching.
Show Choir, women’s choir, concert choir, FCCLA, First priority, Key club
Get involved in as much as you can in school and in the community. The connections you will make and the knowledge you will gain will benefit you ten-fold.
Finishing my Master’s degree and growing in my career. I am extremely involved with my professional organization; holding offices on our state board and nationally board with the American Association for Respiratory Care. I am also proud of the family that I have created with my husband, Adam. We have two sons together: Alden (5) and Finnley (3). I also have a precious step-daughter, Ada (14). They make me proud every day to be their wife/mom!
Show choir, school dances, senior day, powder puff football game, and being the first class to set the precedent for students to follow.
The friendships I made and the fun times we all shared during our time at SPHS!
