Class of 2004
Administrator of Innovation and Digital Transformation at Mayo Clinic
Presentation, Critical Thinking, Writing - Creative and Technical
At college, I double majored in Sociology and Political Science with a minor in Economics. I wanted to become a Sociology Professor, so I went to UAB to work on my PhD in Medical Sociology. My focus continued to shift toward statistics and quantitative methods. I was asked to consider a Statistician role at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama. I accepted the role and worked as a Statistician, Chief Statistician and then Analytics Consultant for seven years. During that time, I went back to graduate school for a Masters in Healthcare Administration. During that program, I accepted an opportunity at Mayo Clinic. I initially focused on Data Science for their Florida campus. I then led a number of clinical practices as their Administrator - Radiation Oncology, Particle Therapy, Hematology, Blood and Bone Marrow Transplantation, Cellular Therapy, and the Chemotherapy Unit. Around a year ago, I was asked to lead Innovation and Digital Transformation to continue Mayo's rank as a world leader in novel treatments and cures.
Take your time. Enjoy the journey of learning. Keep an open mind to opportunities. Operating on the fringe is good.

The patients I serve and lives I have impacted due to working in a way that is true to my values
I liked how our class was smaller than other public schools.
