My cousin Charles Dickson joined the United States Marine Corps in 1946. He retired 27 May 1968 with the rank of Master Sergeant. He served in Korea from 1950-1951 in the 1st Marine Brigade and was in the retreat from the Chosin Reservoir.
He was stationed at Cherry Point NC, Memphis TN, El Toro CA, and in Hawaii at Kanohe Air Base ; home of Fighter Squadron 214 , Papa Boyington's old squad. He was also aboard the USS Hancock for 5 1/2 months in the Pacific.
The Marine Corps sent him on detached service for a year at Litton's to learn about data systems. He saw service in Vietnam at Da Nang and Monkey Mountain. He had 9 service ribbons including the Bronze Star , the UN ribbon and 5 major battle ribbons.
