Our Curriculum

Our Curriculum Intent

At Holy Cross we grow heart and minds, today, tomorrow and for life. Through a  dynamic and inspiring curriculum, we strive to develop every child's passion for learning that will carry them through their school years and beyond.

Our bespoke curriculum is carefully crafted so that each child can develop academically and socially, whilst providing the knowledge and cultural capital needed to succeed. We ensure that an effective balance of broad learning opportunities are available for the holistic development of our children.

Our Curriculum Implementation

Our curriculum has been carefully designed, with learning opportunities and assessment milestones for each year group crafted, to ensure progression and repetition to embed knowledge and skills.

At Holy Cross, six core values underpin everything that we do, everything that we teach and everything that we aspire for our pupils to be when they leave us: Moral, Grateful, Resilient, Kind and Curious. Our bespoke curriculum provides constant opportunities to demonstrate and promote our values.

Our Curriculum Impact

Formative assessment is used daily by teachers to inform planning and establish any short-term interventions required. This helps us to provide the best possible support for all of our pupils, including the more able. Summative assessment is carried out termly to inform longer-term planning and identify any interventions required. Proof of progress (POP) tasks are carried out at the end of units of work in foundation subjects to allow children the opportunity to demonstrate acquired knowledge and perform skills using this knowledge.
